  3. Q:  What is the BTU usage of the printer?  Of the cube?
  4.  
  5. A:  The printer's BTUs:
  6. Standby (not printing) - 374 BTUs
  7. Peak during printing - 2,176 BTUs
  8.  
  9. Note: All measurements are for 115V.  The printer will always go to standby mode if the printer is not commanded to print for 30 seconds.

  11. The following information applies to the 68030-based NeXT computer.   Data for the NeXTstation and NeXTcube are not available at this time.

  13. BTU usage of the cube:  Estimated 500-600 BTU per hour, based on a cube at rest measured at 6 BTU/minute.

The power consumption of an 8meg/330 SCSI system booted off the SCSI: steady state (turned on but doing nothing) consumes 115 watts or 6.5 BTU/min or about 400 BTU/hr.  Power consumption goes up slightly with seeks and writes and this could become significant if the unit is being used as a server.  For calculating heat loads for air conditioning we advise using a more conservative number like 500-600 BTU/hr so that system configuration (excluding 3rd party boards) or how it's being used would not be important.
